Overt offers a variety of solutions for nowadays cramped housing. It is used where drywalls shade to much light and clear glass could expose intimacy. Whilst light is given a way to travel throughout the entire depth of the appartment, cutouts give you the extra storage for either books, cups or cosmetics.
Whenever you feel a need of privacy, the convenience of electrochromic glass comes into play, because it enables glass to shade itself.
When it is dark at night, or daylight isn‘t bright enough, embedded Oleds light your chopping board or the book in your hand. And they even let your herbs grow.

This section shows, how overt could be implemented in a house.

An array of 4 bricks. The oled is embedded in the top pane, the electrochromic part is the back pane. I designed a little tray as well. Either for small stuff, or for planting.

PROTOTYPE

The prototype was made of resin, whilst structural mockups were made of plaster (eco reasons).

The matte structure of the resin shows a subtle picture of the objects stored.

  IDEATION
One of the early ideation sketches shows how the system integrates in peoples everyday lifes. Below you see more scribbles and moods, thoughts about glass and random stuff.
